What You’ll Do

This entry-level Data Scientist / SQL & Data Developer role supports database development, ETL, reporting, and analytics to help enable data-driven decisions for a confidential client based in Connecticut. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, test, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other database objects
  • Write efficient, optimized SQL to extract, analyze, and manage large datasets
  • Assist in designing and maintaining relational database schemas and data models
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading (ETL) tasks
  • Analyze data and generate reports to support business and operational requirements
  • Monitor query performance and assist with database tuning and optimization
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and data quality problems
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and DBAs on integration and migration projects
  • Document database designs, SQL scripts, technical processes, and solutions
  • Stay current with database technologies and best practices

Qualifications

Required (minimum to be considered):

  • Knowledge of SQL programming and query optimization
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of database concepts: tables, relationships, keys, indexes, views, and constraints
  • Experience with joins, subqueries, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), and window functions
  • Basic understanding of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and transactions
  • Familiarity with database design and normalization concepts
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills
  • Awareness of data quality, validation, and integrity principles
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (per job posting)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Exposure to ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, Talend, AWS Glue) and data warehouse concepts (star/snowflake schemas)
  • Experience with reporting/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS)
  • Basic Python or another scripting/programming language
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of database performance tuning and query optimization
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

Compensation & Logistics

  • Employment type: Full-Time
  • Location: This role is based in Connecticut (Confidential Client). Candidate must be open to relocation within the USA.
  • Compensation (provided by the client): $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
  • Note: Candidates with recent graduation, internship, or project experience in SQL/ETL/database work are encouraged to apply.
