What You’ll Do
This entry-level Data Scientist / SQL & Data Developer role supports database development, ETL, reporting, and analytics to help enable data-driven decisions for a confidential client based in Connecticut. Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, test, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other database objects
- Write efficient, optimized SQL to extract, analyze, and manage large datasets
- Assist in designing and maintaining relational database schemas and data models
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading (ETL) tasks
- Analyze data and generate reports to support business and operational requirements
- Monitor query performance and assist with database tuning and optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and data quality problems
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and DBAs on integration and migration projects
- Document database designs, SQL scripts, technical processes, and solutions
- Stay current with database technologies and best practices
Qualifications
Required (minimum to be considered):
- Knowledge of SQL programming and query optimization
- Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Understanding of database concepts: tables, relationships, keys, indexes, views, and constraints
- Experience with joins, subqueries, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), and window functions
- Basic understanding of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and transactions
- Familiarity with database design and normalization concepts
- Basic data analysis and reporting skills
- Awareness of data quality, validation, and integrity principles
- Familiarity with Git or another version control system
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (per job posting)
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Exposure to ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, Talend, AWS Glue) and data warehouse concepts (star/snowflake schemas)
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS)
- Basic Python or another scripting/programming language
- Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Understanding of database performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Compensation & Logistics
- Employment type: Full-Time
- Location: This role is based in Connecticut (Confidential Client). Candidate must be open to relocation within the USA.
- Compensation (provided by the client): $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
- Note: Candidates with recent graduation, internship, or project experience in SQL/ETL/database work are encouraged to apply.
