Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Data Scientist to join an IT services team in Chicago, IL. This position focuses on entry-level to early-career candidates who want hands-on experience with Python, SQL, analytics, and applied machine learning. You'll work on real data projects, build analytical pipelines, and help deliver data-informed solutions to business stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze and preprocess structured and unstructured data using Python and SQL
• Build and validate statistical and machine learning models for forecasting, classification, and anomaly detection
• Develop dashboards and BI reports to communicate results to stakeholders
• Collaborate with data engineers and cloud teams to productionize models on cloud data platforms
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and reproducible data pipelines
• Participate in interview-ready project work and assessment activities as required for the role

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (recent grads welcome)
• Practical experience with Python (pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL
• Basic understanding of statistical methods and supervised learning techniques
• Familiarity with BI tools or visualization libraries (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, seaborn)
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn on the job
• Able to work full-time in Chicago, IL (on-site or hybrid as required by the client)

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or data engineering fundamentals
• Exposure to modern ML tooling, model monitoring, or GenAI workflows
• Prior internship, capstone project, or coursework applying ML to business problems
• Good communication skills for translating technical results to non-technical stakeholders
