Data Scientist
The Data Scientist at Confidential Client is an entry-level role focused on building machine learning models and analytics to inform business strategy, optimize content, and enhance user experience. The role involves working with diverse datasets to develop predictive and causal models, collaborating across teams to operationalize data science solutions, and communicating insights effectively to stakeholders. This onsite position requires strong technical skills in Python and SQL, along with the ability to translate business problems into data-driven solutions.

What You’ll Do
- Support product and business teams by building causal and predictive ML models using streaming, clickstream, subscription, and 2nd/3rd-party data.
- Translate business questions into measurable data problems, define success metrics, and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Develop, validate, and maintain analytics and ML pipelines; collaborate with engineering to productionize and monitor models.
- Write production-quality Python and SQL code, implement feature engineering, and validate model performance and fairness.
- Create concise visualizations and storytelling to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to data science best practices through documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Key Projects / Day-to-Day
- Build user- and session-level models for sign-up, retention/churn, and short-term session intent.
- Predict content viewership and identify content features that drive engagement and habit formation.
- Create segmentation and cohort-based models to enable targeted and near-personalized experiences.
- Perform diagnostic analyses (e.g., search failures, content performance) to surface product improvements.
- Iterate quickly: deliver decision-useful prototypes, refine through stakeholder feedback, and move high-impact work into production.
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of professional experience in Data Science, ML Engineering, or related field.
- Strong foundation in Python and SQL; experience writing clean, testable code.
- Familiarity with supervised and unsupervised learning methods, model validation, and feature engineering.
- Experience with data exploration, transformation, and model development; exposure to productionizing/monitoring is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to tell a concise data story for varied audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- MS in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field preferred — or equivalent experience.
- Must successfully pass a background check and be authorized to work in the U.S.
You may also have:
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, ML Engine) and other cloud ML/data tools.
- Experience integrating AI/ML solutions into product workflows.
Location & Schedule
- Onsite role based in Burbank, CA — 5 days per week in the office.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring range: $99,000 — $140,000 (USD) — applicable to California and other listed geographies. Actual starting pay depends on factors such as location, experience, and education.
