What You’ll Do

Responsible for performing data analysis and building analytical solutions that support business decisions across the organization. Typical responsibilities include:

• Develop analytical solutions to solve high-value business problems.
• Mine, audit, aggregate, validate, and reconcile diverse data sources.
• Use analytics and statistical tools to produce actionable business intelligence.
• Build reports and dashboards for management; present findings and insights.
• Assist in creating components of predictive and prescriptive models to optimize operations and support strategic initiatives.
• Apply data visualization tools to large datasets to improve data understanding.
• Work with business units to learn processes and data acquisition practices across disparate systems.
• Collaborate with technology partners to improve data acquisition and data management.
• Help operationalize reports and dashboards to meet business needs for status, trends, and variances.

Qualifications

Minimum education and experience requirements vary by level:

• SG 06 — Data Scientist Associate

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, operations research, statistics, economics, data science, computer science, or a related technical field is required.
  • No prior professional experience required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• SG 07 — Data Scientist

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience; equivalent combinations may be considered.

• SG 08 — Data Scientist Sr.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience; equivalent combinations may be considered.

Key skills and tools (commonly used):

• SQL, Python, R
• Excel; familiarity with Hadoop, SAS, SPSS
• Tableau or other BI/data visualization tools
• Basic understanding of predictive/prescriptive analytics and hypothesis testing
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present analyses to non-technical stakeholders

• SG 06 Data Scientist Associate: $74,551 - $93,189 (starting range)
• SG 07 Data Scientist: $87,633 - $109,544 (starting range)
• SG 08 Data Scientist Sr.: $98,993 - $128,689 (starting range)

Compensation Range (overall): $74,551 - $128,688
