Overview

Confidential Client is hiring full-time Data Scientist and Program Analyst candidates to join a small Strategy & Analytics function supporting a mission-driven, Texas-based nonprofit focused on improving economic mobility and reducing child poverty through data-driven program design and delivery. These permanent roles sit inside the client's analytics team and are intended to build lasting internal capability — not short-term consulting engagements.

Two related tracks are hiring:

• Embedded Program Analyst — embed with a specific program (e.g., housing, maternal health, or public safety) and deliver applied analytics that shape decisions and recurring program products.
• Strategy Analyst — work cross-program on strategy, messy data, and questions that inform resource allocation and program design.

What You’ll Do

• Embed with program teams or work across program areas to translate operational questions into analytic plans and deliverables.
• Lead end-to-end analyses: clean and combine imperfect data, select appropriate methods, validate results, and document assumptions and limitations.
• Produce decision-focused outputs: concise briefs, visuals, prototypes, and recurring dashboards that support program leaders.
• Frame problems before running models — find the decision behind a request and define the smallest useful first deliverable.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly in research, coding, QA, and documentation — verify outputs and maintain analytical rigor.
• Build institutional knowledge, reproducible code, and clear documentation so future questions are easier to answer.
• Communicate technical results clearly to nontechnical stakeholders and help translate findings into operational changes.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

• 3–5 years of applied analytical experience (e.g., strategy or analytical consulting, analytics lead at a startup, or public sector analytics role).
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or an applied quantitative social science (or equivalent).
• Strong professional fluency in Python and working SQL; able to read and adapt R code.
• Demonstrated sound methodological judgment and pragmatic, decision-oriented thinking.
• Daily working fluency with AI-assisted analytical tools and concrete examples of how you’ve used them.
• High intellectual curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn new policy domains quickly.
• A strong commitment to mission-driven work; prior nonprofit experience is welcome but not required.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

• Geospatial analysis and data visualization experience.
• Applied work in housing, maternal health, or violence/public safety (particularly relevant for Embedded Program Analyst).
• Experience building repeatable, well-documented analytics for operational stakeholders.

Location & Work Arrangement

• This role is flexible on location. Preference is given to candidates within commuting proximity to north-central Texas. Hybrid or remote arrangements are possible for the right candidate.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time W-2 position.
• Salary range: $110,000–$140,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
• Benefits and other perks are provided by the Confidential Client (details discussed during hiring).
