The Opportunity

Confidential Client is hiring a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based data & analytics platforms (DAP) and pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from diverse sources. You will partner with business stakeholders, architects, and analytics teams to translate business needs into reliable, scalable data solutions. What You’ll Do

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into well-designed data solutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines on a modern cloud data platform.
  • Ingest data from APIs, databases, files, and third-party services; publish curated datasets for downstream consumers.
  • Own deliverables end-to-end: requirements, design, implementation, monitoring, support, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact and mentor junior engineers through code review and knowledge sharing.
  • Define and evolve engineering standards for data: code quality, testing, CI/CD, and reusability.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across owned solutions.
  • Use modern development tools (e.g., VS Code) and Git-based workflows to build, test, and ship solutions.
  • Leverage Generative AI and agentic tooling to accelerate development while applying strong judgment around safe, appropriate use.
  • Continuously learn and share new technologies to help the team grow.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts: data modeling, ETL/ELT, and distributed processing.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms (Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience integrating data solutions with APIs, databases, and external services.
  • Comfortable with IDEs (e.g., VS Code), Git-based workflows, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
  • Ownership mindset — able to take a problem end-to-end and deliver a reliable production solution.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders.
  • Practical experience using Generative AI tools for AI-assisted development and agentic systems, with sound judgment.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and expand your technical stack.
  • Ability to work in the Cincinnati, OH office on a hybrid schedule.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Proficiency with PySpark / Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Background in software engineering (APIs, testing, design patterns) beyond data pipelines.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Databricks Data Engineer, Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud Data Engineer).

Location, Schedule & Compensation

  • Location: Cincinnati, OH — hybrid schedule (ability to work in Cincinnati-based office required).
  • Employment type: Full time.
  • Starting pay / salary range (as provided by the source): $85,000 - $122,200 per year.
  • Compensation varies based on non-discriminatory factors including location, role, credential level, and experience. Total rewards may include salary, bonus (if applicable), and benefits.
