What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level / junior Data Engineer role on the Business Data & Architecture team supporting a data modernization effort on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will work with senior engineers to learn and help build scalable, reliable data pipelines and contribute to medallion-style data layers for analytics.
- Assist in building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines into BigQuery using Python and ingestion tools (e.g., Fivetran)
- Support development of Bronze / Silver / Gold data layers for analytics consumers
- Contribute to data transformations using dbt (training provided if needed)
- Help implement basic data validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting for pipelines
- Learn orchestration and scheduling patterns (Airflow or equivalent) and support runbook creation
- Contribute to version-controlled work in GitHub and help document pipelines, models, and data flows
- Gain exposure to CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts (Terraform exposure)
- Partner with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders on data requirements, classification, and lineage
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- Strong academic foundation in:
- SQL
- Python (or similar programming language)
- Data structures and problem solving
- Internship, coursework, or project experience in data engineering, analytics, or cloud platforms
- Willingness to learn modern data tooling and cloud technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure acceptable)
- Familiarity with BigQuery or other relational/columnar databases
- Familiarity with dbt or other transformation tools and with APIs/data ingestion concepts
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
- Academic or personal projects involving data pipelines, analytics, or cloud platforms

- dbt-based transformations and analytics engineering practices
