What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, onsite Data Center Technical Operations role supporting critical facility operations. You will work Monday–Friday onsite, supporting the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of data center infrastructure. The position is a contract role based in Andrews, TX and offers hands-on exposure to power, cooling, and building management systems — ideal for recent data center program graduates or early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise shift technicians, senior shift technicians, subcontractors and vendors to ensure work follows established procedures.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/air handlers and building monitoring systems.
• Establish performance benchmarks, analyze operational data, and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance.
• Coordinate with IT managers and stakeholders to plan capacity, projects, and optimize safety, reliability and efficiency.
• Support asset and inventory management and help maintain accurate records.
• Participate in recruiting and training efforts for the on-site team.
• Support design/build efforts and projects aimed at improving facility efficiency when needed.
• Deliver quality service and respond to routine and emergency events per established escalation procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree OR technical (military/trade school) degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant work experience; this role is suitable for entry-level candidates.
• 0–2 years of management or team lead experience preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Willingness to work onsite Monday–Friday and participate in on-call or emergency response processes as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 0–2 years of data center engineering or data center operations experience.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering or similar discipline.
• Fundamentals of network layout and low-voltage cabling (copper/fiber) a plus.
• Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), SCADA or monitoring platforms.
• Hands-on experience with UPS, generators, chillers, and power distribution equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (contract). Final compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.

Workplace & Schedule

• Workplace type: Fully onsite in Andrews, TX.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday onsite. Candidates must be willing to be onsite during standard shift hours and respond to facility needs; this role may include participation in emergency response procedures.
• Note from client: the client requests candidates be willing to live in or relocate to nearby sites (the original listing referenced Wink, TX, for site support) or use per diem for weekly travel and lodging where required. Candidates may typically go home on weekends; confirm specific travel and living expectations during the interview.
