What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Data Architect (Associate) to design, implement, and maintain traditional and modern data infrastructures. You’ll work on moderate-to-complex projects under the mentorship of senior architects and engineers to deliver scalable, efficient, and secure data models, pipelines, and warehouses.

  • Design and implement relational and modern data architectures to support analytics and operational needs.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and near-real-time data ingestion.
  • Develop and document data models, data dictionaries, and integration patterns.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and governance practices are followed across systems.
  • Optimize database performance and query efficiency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders — product managers, analysts, engineers — to align data solutions to business needs.
  • Use programming tools (SQL, Python, PySpark) and cloud/on-prem platforms to deploy solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices for data workflows.

Skills & Tools

  • SQL (advanced querying, performance tuning)
  • Python, PySpark
  • Traditional RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres)
  • Cloud and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks)
  • Cloud providers: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • ETL/ELT tools: SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Databricks
  • Data modeling, data governance, and security best practices
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis) — preferred
  • Experience with APIs and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) — helpful

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic proficiency with SQL and experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Introductory experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with programming for data engineering (Python, PySpark, or R).
  • Foundational understanding of ETL/ELT processes and tools.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Product/Project/Program Management philosophies to align technical work to business goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
  • Experience with data streaming (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs).
  • Experience designing or using APIs for data products.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for data workflows.
  • Knowledge of data governance and privacy/compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

Conditions & Compensation

  • Location: Lake Park Building — Hunter / West Valley City area, UT
  • Employment type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Pay range: $35.99 - $56.68 per hour (actual rate depends on experience)
  • Physical requirements: Primarily desk/computer work; may remain sitting or standing for long periods.
