Role overview
Confidential Client (Software Development) is hiring a Data Analyst in San Francisco, CA. This early-career to mid-level role reports to leadership and partners across product, engineering, marketing, and sales to find the insights that drive product and go-to-market decisions. You’ll turn raw product and usage data into clear, repeatable analyses, dashboards, and recommendations that move the business.
What You’ll Do
- Dig into product, customer, and market data to discover patterns and questions before they become obvious.
- Build dashboards and frontend analytics in collaboration with engineering and design so internal teams and customers have reliable views of product behavior.
- Partner with product marketing and sales to translate findings into campaigns, launch assets, and sales evidence — including reproducible methodology.
- Triage and fulfill analytics requests across the business; decide what needs a deep dive vs. a quick pass vs. deferred work.
- Analyze product usage (onboarding funnels, feature adoption, dashboard engagement) to identify opportunities to improve the customer journey.
- Convert one-off analyses into repeatable internal tools and self-service resources to accelerate future requests.
- Communicate findings in concise, readable formats so stakeholders (marketers, sellers, customers) understand the implication and recommended action.
What we’re looking for (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
- 2+ years in analytics, data science, insights, or a technical GTM / BizOps role.
- Strong SQL skills — you write clean, structured queries on large datasets and take ownership of result correctness.
- Working knowledge of dbt and the ability to extend existing models without owning a full warehouse build.
- Proficiency with Python for analysis and automation, including leveraging AI-enabled workflows to reduce manual reporting.
- Excellent written communication — you can package an analysis into a single finding that stakeholders read once and act on.
Nice to have
- Experience at a B2B SaaS or developer tools company, or other environments with real product data assets.
- Background working closely with product, marketing, sales, or revenue operations.
- Hands-on experience with product analytics tools such as PostHog, Mixpanel, or Amplitude.
- Familiarity with LLM / AI infrastructure data or a demonstrated eagerness to learn quickly.
Compensation & benefits
- Cash compensation range: $150,000 - $170,000 (annual).
- Actual packages vary by candidate based on experience and other factors. In addition to cash compensation, employees receive an equity package.
- Benefits include standard health and wellness offerings, and other perks vary by client policy.
Location & work arrangement
- Location: San Francisco, CA (on-site or hybrid per Confidential Client policy). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- This posting follows applicable state and local employment laws. If you need accommodation in the application process, disclose this in your communications and the hiring team will work with you.
