Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an experienced data-focused analyst to support an enterprise Data Governance program. This is a 9–12 month contractor role with a hybrid work arrangement in Richmond, VA. The role centers on implementing governance standards, metadata and lineage documentation, data quality checks, and stakeholder engagement across cloud data platforms (AWS, Snowflake).


Key Responsibilities

  • Support design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Data Governance program
  • Facilitate governance workshops and stakeholder meetings with business and technical teams
  • Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, architects and engineering to define governance standards
  • Create and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries and metadata repositories
  • Define Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business rules and data quality standards
  • Perform data profiling, reconciliation, validation and data quality assessments using SQL
  • Document business and technical data lineage and end-to-end data flows
  • Support governance for datasets in AWS and Snowflake environments
  • Build governance dashboards, metrics and executive-level reporting
  • Assist with data classification, retention and information lifecycle management initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Business Analysis or Metadata Management
  • Proven experience implementing enterprise Data Governance programs
  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation and reconciliation
  • Experience with metadata management, data lineage and data cataloging
  • Experience creating governance documentation: policies, procedures, standards, glossaries and data dictionaries
  • Strong requirements gathering, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouses and relational databases

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • AWS (S3, Glue, Glue Data Catalog, Lake Formation)
  • Snowflake
  • Python for data profiling or automation
  • Power BI or other BI/reporting tools
  • SharePoint or documentation portals
  • SQL Server, Oracle

Preferred industry experience: healthcare, Medicaid, behavioral health or state government.
