Data Analyst
The Data Analyst at Confidential Client is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, automating workflows, and supporting dashboards to provide clear insights into IT spending. This hybrid contract-to-hire role involves hands-on data engineering, close collaboration with clients, and contributing to solution design and technical documentation, emphasizing cost transparency and strategic IT financial management.

What You’ll Do
- Support configuration, deployment, and ongoing administration of platform modules (Apptio, Cloudability, or equivalent).
- Design and maintain data models, allocation rules, and taxonomies aligned to the TBM framework (IT Towers, Cost Pools, Business Capabilities).
- Build and run data ingestion pipelines from source systems (ERP/GL, HR, ITSM, CMDB, cloud billing exports, procurement) and automate recurring workflows.
- Implement and maintain cost allocation methodologies to enable accurate showback/chargeback reporting and cloud cost transparency.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent) showing IT spend by tower/service, variance analysis, unit cost trends, and cloud cost breakdowns.
- Translate raw data into clear, actionable insights and visuals for IT and finance stakeholders.
- Assist with technical prospecting: assess client environments, document data readiness, and translate business pain points into data/AI/automation use cases.
- Draft technical outlines and lightweight prototypes (pipelines, data flows, demos) to support solution shaping, proposals, and client meetings.
- Contribute to templates, standards, and playbooks for data integration, validation, refresh, and reporting; apply design-thinking to simplify workflows.
- Perform other project-relevant duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2–5 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI development, or a similar hands-on data role.
- Strong proficiency with SQL and experience with relational databases or data warehouses.
- Practical scripting/automation experience (for example, Python, dbt, Airflow, or similar).
- Experience building reports and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent).
- Comfortable working with structured financial/operational data (GL, cost centers, HR data, usage metrics).
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.; able to meet the hybrid/in-person requirements for Reston, VA and travel to client sites as needed.
- Willingness to undergo background screening and other compliance checks as required for government/contract work.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud billing datasets and/or ITSM/CMDB tools.
- Familiarity with Apptio, Cloudability, or other IT financial management platforms.
- Basic exposure to AI/ML workflows, API integrations, or RPA/automation tools.
- Prior experience in startups or early-stage teams.
- Based in the DMV area or able to attend in-person meetings in the region.

Employment & Hiring Details
- Employment type: Contract (Contract-to-Hire).
