What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Data Analyst (Research I) to support predictive modeling, AI prototyping and analysis on biomedical datasets. This is a 14-month W2 contract role that can be performed remotely but prefers candidates in the Pacific Time zone (local to South San Francisco, CA preferred). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (research scientists, data engineers, product/ML engineers) to turn biomedical data into reproducible analyses and AI prototypes.

  • Build, validate and deploy predictive and statistical models for biomedical data (omics, clinical, RWD).
  • Prototype agentic AI components and LLM tooling for research workflows.
  • Clean, integrate and version-control biomedical datasets; ensure reproducibility and data provenance.
  • Convert research prototypes into production-ready analysis pipelines with software engineering best practices.
  • Communicate results clearly to scientific and technical stakeholders; produce reproducible reports and visualizations.
  • Support pharmacovigilance, drug safety, toxicology or quantitative risk analyses when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement predictive models and machine learning experiments.
  • Develop and test agentic AI prototypes and integrations with LLM/Model Context Protocol (MCP) tooling.
  • Preprocess and analyze biomedical datasets (omics, clinical trials, RWD, in vitro/in vivo).
  • Maintain code and data in version control; write unit/integration tests for analysis pipelines.
  • Work in an Agile prototyping environment and collaborate with software engineers to productionize models.
  • Document methods, assumptions, and limitations; present findings to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Hands-on experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI prototyping.
  • Proven ability working with biomedical datasets (omics, clinical, RWD or experimental data).
  • Programming proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow or similar) and experience with data engineering tools.
  • Strong reproducible-research practices (Git, testing, containerization, CI).
  • Comfortable working PST hours and collaborating across distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in pharmacovigilance, drug safety, toxicology, or quantitative risk management.
  • Prior experience developing agentic AI systems, MCP tooling, or LLM tool integration.
  • Pharma/biotech industry experience.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), orchestration (Kubernetes), and data storage for large biomedical datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication tailored to scientific and non-technical audiences.

Logistics & Compensation

  • Location: South San Francisco, CA (Confidential Client prefers local candidates but will consider remote candidates who can work PST hours).
  • Employment type: Contract (W2).
  • Duration: Approximately 14 months.
  • Rate: $65–$67 per hour (W2). — This range is provided in support of pay-transparency requirements for roles listed in jurisdictions that require a salary range (e.g., CA).
