What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, full-time Data Analyst role supporting a confidential client in the Financial Services industry. You will analyze mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and related housing data to generate insights that inform product, marketing, and investor decisions.

  • Perform data mining and build data visualizations to provide strategic insights on Agency MBS markets using SQL
  • Validate data quality; identify and document inconsistencies or missing values
  • Produce analytical reports using big data tools to evaluate housing and mortgage policy impacts on investors
  • Research trends and performance in residential and commercial MBS using public housing and mortgage datasets
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to define key metrics, implement visualization approaches, and support product QA
  • Analyze loan-level and pool-level datasets using internal tools (e.g., Recursion Analyzer, DataCloud) and deliver findings to stakeholders
  • Maintain documentation for calculation formulas, data definitions, and analytic methodologies
  • Present written and oral reports on fixed income and MBS datasets to professional clients and internal teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s in Business Analytics or Applied Analytics preferred
  • Strong SQL programming skills required
  • Experience with Python and Linux is desired
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to validate complex datasets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience delivering training or client-facing presentations is a plus
  • Basic understanding of housing and mortgage markets highly desirable
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this role to satisfy certain government contracting requirements

Compensation & Location

  • Base salary: $70,000 — $100,000 per year (range depends on qualifications, experience, and location)
  • Bonus opportunities based on company performance and individual contribution
  • Work model: Hybrid in New York, NY (office + remote flexibility)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience working with loan-level or pool-level MBS datasets
  • Familiarity with visualization tools and large-scale analytics platforms
  • Exposure to financial services or fixed income research
