What You’ll Do

This role is a hands-on Data Analyst / Jr Data Engineer position working with cloud-native analytics and enterprise systems to deliver scalable reporting, modeling, and advanced-analytics solutions for a Confidential Client in the Oil and Gas sector.

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and analytics solutions in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using services such as BigQuery, Data Fusion, DataStream, and Cloud Storage
  • Create and optimize scalable data models (dimensional, relational, semantic) to support reporting and self-service analytics
  • Integrate data from enterprise systems (including ERP such as SAP BW/4HANA) into cloud analytics environments
  • Develop, tune, and maintain complex SQL queries for extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis of large datasets
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc analyses using Looker and/or Power BI
  • Implement and maintain LookML-based reporting where applicable
  • Automate recurring reporting processes and workflows with Python to improve operational efficiency
  • Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives — statistical analysis, forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive modeling
  • Apply data quality, governance, and consistency best practices across analytics outputs
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Continuously evaluate emerging tools and patterns to improve data architecture, orchestration, and reporting

Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering (enterprise/energy or related industries preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform — particularly BigQuery (data modeling, query optimization, performance tuning)
  • Advanced SQL skills for working with large datasets
  • Experience building dashboards and visualizations in Looker (LookML) and/or Power BI
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and process automation
  • Strong data modeling knowledge (star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers, ER design)
  • Experience integrating data from ERP systems (SAP BW/4HANA or comparable systems) preferred
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights and present to stakeholders

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
  • Exposure to predictive analytics, machine learning, or AI-driven solutions
  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer) or other relevant cloud/data credentials
  • Familiarity with operational, retail, financial, or energy-related datasets

Role Details

  • Employment type: Contract (6–12 month Contract-to-Hire)
  • Location: Houston, TX — work will be performed in the Houston area (on-site or hybrid as required by the Confidential Client)
  • No sponsorship available — candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
