What You’ll Do

  • Apply data management and analytic expertise to administrative and public-health data sources (e.g., AR Lab Network, NNDSS-CPO, electronic healthcare data).
  • Write, document, and submit code (SAS, R, Python, SQL/Databricks, Spark, Decipher) for quality control, data cleaning, transformation, and standard reporting.
  • Develop and run statistical and epidemiologic analyses (frequency analyses, 2x2 analyses, regression models) to support studies and reporting.
  • Prepare tables, charts, and figures to support scientific manuscripts, reports, and briefings.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, documentation, project databases, SharePoint sites, Teams workspaces, and visualization tools.
  • Support data request packages, use agreements, and research approvals for acquisition/renewal of administrative data sources.
  • Communicate results and coordinate deliverables with internal teams, principal investigators, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in project development and evaluation activities, including literature reviews and protocol standardization.
  • Support CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead, including occasional EOC desk staffing and short site visits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: 1–2 years of relevant experience in public health or a quantitative field.
  • Proficient with statistical software (SAS, R, Python) and familiarity with SQL/Databricks, Spark, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of data management systems and data cleaning best practices.
  • Experience preparing reproducible code, documented workflows, and analytic outputs suitable for publication.
  • Familiarity with government procedures and requirements preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking and working independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Teams, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in public health data analysis, including cleaning, manipulating, and reporting using statistical functions.
  • Prior experience working with CDC or similar public-health agencies is highly desired.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary range: $80,000 to $90,000 per year.

Location & Clearance

  • Location: Massachusetts (MA), United States.
  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
  • May require limited travel (1–2 site visits) and participation in response activities or training exercises.
