Overview
Confidential Client (Semiconductor Manufacturing) is hiring a Data Analyst for a 12-month contract, onsite in Fremont, CA. This role focuses on gathering and organizing complex datasets, building clear dashboards and visualizations (Power BI), writing reports from SQL and Excel data, and supporting SharePoint document workflows. The ideal candidate converts technical data into actionable insights to support product and engineering teams.
What You’ll Do
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and translate them into analytics and dashboards
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and visualizations to communicate trends and KPIs
- Query and model data using SQL; prepare, clean, and transform large datasets for analysis
- Use advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, charting) for ad-hoc analysis and reporting
- Support SharePoint and OneDrive document workflows and collaborative editing processes
- Produce clear, concise technical and business documentation (reports, test procedures, process docs)
- Present findings to stakeholders and assist with data-driven decision-making
- Help maintain data governance standards and file/archive procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years related experience, or an advanced degree, or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst (or Business Data Analyst) working with complex datasets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience creating dashboards and reports with Power BI or similar tools
- Hands-on SQL experience and strong Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, formatting, charting)
- Familiarity with SharePoint (site content, views, permissions) and collaborative document editing
- Ability to produce and edit technical documentation and standard operating procedures
- Comfortable working onsite in Fremont, CA for the contract duration; flexible hours when needed
Required Technical Skills
- Power BI (dashboard design, DAX basics preferred)
- SQL (querying, joins, aggregations, basic performance awareness)
- Advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charting, data cleanup)
- Experience with reporting packages (e.g., Business Objects) and ETL or scripting (XML, JavaScript, or similar)
- Statistical tools familiarity (Excel, SPSS, SAS) or equivalent analytical tool experience
- Experience with SharePoint document archival, workflow management, and permissions
- Experience working with PLM-related documentation and technical process outputs is a plus
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with QuickBase or other low-code platforms
- Previous exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes
- Prior experience in semiconductor manufacturing or hardware engineering environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to independently manage competing priorities and last-minute schedule changes
