Role overview
This is an entry-level Data Analyst - Finance role supporting financial reporting and analysis for a confidential client in the Accounting & Finance industry. The position requires advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a willingness to learn financial reporting, reconciliation, auditing support, and data extraction. This is an on-site, full-time role based in Bethesda, MD.
What You’ll Do
- Support financial reporting activities, including preparing and validating monthly reports.
- Extract, cleanse and analyze financial data from source systems.
- Perform reconciliations and variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies.
- Support audit preparation and respond to audit requests as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate findings to finance team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, data modeling).
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numerical data.
- Ability to work on-site in Bethesda, MD (corporate office).
- Eligible to work in the U.S.; employment is at-will.
Preferred
- Internship or coursework in finance, accounting, or analytics.
- Familiarity with financial controls, auditing fundamentals, or SQL basics.
- Ability to clearly document processes and analyses.
