What You’ll Do
As a Data Analyst, Exploration on behalf of our confidential client you will help onboard, profile, and maintain datasets used by traders and quantitative researchers. You will work across data strategists, data engineers, technology, operations, research, and risk teams to investigate data issues and surface actionable insights.
- Analyze new datasets to profile content and identify collection/storage requirements for data engineering teams
- Produce metrics and reports across data quality dimensions: completeness, validity, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
- Curate and maintain data catalog entries to improve discoverability of research data assets
- Support global front-office research teams throughout dataset lifecycles; handle content inquiries and vendor communications
- Monitor and resolve production data issues, coordinating stakeholders across teams for timely remediation
- Identify opportunities to improve datasets and data management processes
What You Will Need
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in data analysis or a related field
- Strong foundational knowledge of financial instruments and market data symbology (or strong interest to develop this)
- Proficiency with SQL and Python for exploratory data analysis (e.g., PySpark, pandas, numpy, Jupyter Notebooks)
- Ability to document and clearly explain complex data analysis findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS Athena and Amazon S3
- Familiarity with Linux and basic Bash scripting
- Experience using version control tools such as Git
- Practical experience implementing data quality checks or developing data quality reports
- Prior exposure to the Bloomberg Terminal
- Familiarity with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 (dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills)
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus
