Overview & Team Context

Confidential Client is a proprietary trading firm focused on combining trading expertise with technology to support high-performance, auditable trading operations. This role sits on the Mid/Back Office Tech Team, supporting middle- and back-office workflows by delivering business intelligence, reliable data pipelines, and backend services that power trade lifecycle processes (trade capture, reconciliation, P&L, settlements, accounting feeds, and third-party reporting).

Qlik & Business Intelligence Development (Core Focus)

  • Lead Qlik Sense dashboard design and development for middle- and back-office users (accounting, compliance, operations).
  • Implement and maintain data load transformations in Qlik Sense to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Own audit-trail and reconciliation reporting delivered to internal stakeholders and external 3rd parties.
  • Ensure BI outputs meet high accuracy, auditability, and deadline requirements.

Backend, Integration & Trade Lifecycle Support

  • Develop and maintain backend services that support the full trade lifecycle (trade capture, reconciliation, P&L, settlements, accounting feeds).
  • Build and improve integrations to ensure accurate, reliable data flow between front-office trading systems and middle/back-office platforms.
  • Collaborate with core development teams to optimize data models and service endpoints that feed analytics and operational reports.

System Optimization & Production Operations

  • Support production systems and troubleshoot time-sensitive incidents under pressure.
  • Improve observability, reliability, and performance through testing, monitoring, and automation.
  • Contribute to deployment and operational best practices: version control, automated testing, containerized deployments, and monitoring.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Academic degree in Computer Science or another STEM-related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or Data Engineer (or similar role).
  • Advanced SQL expertise and strong programming skills in one or more general-purpose languages.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, data quality, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building business intelligence dashboards, operational reports, and self-service analytics solutions using a modern visualization platform (Qlik Sense experience strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with the end-to-end software development lifecycle: version control, automated testing, containerized deployments, system monitoring, and production support.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Self-starter who can prioritize tasks, meet strict deadlines, and work independently or in a team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with systems and data processes across a complete operational lifecycle (trade capture, reconciliation, P&L, settlement, accounting, or regulatory reporting).
  • Background in trading, financial services, or other regulated environments where accuracy and auditability are essential.
  • Exposure to AI/ML for workflow automation, anomaly detection, data-quality monitoring, or intelligent reporting.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.
  • Final compensation is determined by experience, skills, and qualifications. Confidential Client also offers a competitive total rewards package and comprehensive benefits.
