What You’ll Do

  • Analyze customer, event, and large-scale datasets to generate business insights, validate data quality, and support decision-making.
  • Design, write, optimize, and maintain advanced SQL queries across Presto, Hive, and NoSQL systems for high-volume data sets.
  • Use Python for data processing, automation, ETL tasks, API integrations, and workflow scripting.
  • Operate and improve CDP (Customer Data Platform) integrations and activation flows to unify customer profiles.
  • Manage CDP workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Digdag, Treasure Data Workflows) to schedule and monitor pipelines.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks, monitoring, alerts, and pipeline observability.
  • Work in cloud environments (primarily AWS) applying cloud data-architecture best practices (S3, IAM, data storage).
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, identify anomalies, and validate analytical assumptions.
  • Troubleshoot data ingestion and pipeline failures; perform root-cause analysis using logs and metadata.
  • Follow CI/CD and Git-based version-control best practices for SQL, scripts, and documentation.
  • Document data processes, business rules, transformation logic, and runbooks in Confluence or similar tools.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and partner with SMEs to refine requirements.
  • Proactively improve automation, reliability, and performance of data workflows and CDP operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years combined experience in data analysis, data engineering, or data operations.
  • Advanced SQL skills (complex joins, window functions, CTEs, query optimization) with experience on Presto/Hive/NoSQL.
  • Proficiency in Python for data pipelines, automation, and API work.
  • Hands-on experience with Customer Data Platforms (Treasure Data, Amperity, mParticle, Tealium, or similar) and CRM integrations.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Digdag, Treasure Data Workflows).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure acceptable) and related storage/security concepts.
  • Experience with data quality frameworks, monitoring/alerting, and pipeline observability.
  • Experience supporting production environments and owning incident response for data pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of privacy and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, PII handling).
  • Experience with CI/CD and Git-based version control.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000 - $115,000 per year (contract).
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (as applicable).
  • 401(k) (as applicable).
  • Other standard contractor benefits as applicable.

  • Employment type: Contractor.
  • Work model: Onsite — typically 4 days/week (Torrance, CA).
  • Travel: None required.
