What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client seeks a Data Analyst to support engagement teams and firm leadership by turning complex datasets into clean, actionable outputs. You will work with client-provided files and public regulatory datasets, build repeatable workflows and dashboards, and deliver clear analysis for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Assist engagement teams with data extraction, cleansing, reconciliation, and reformatting of client datasets (GL detail, payroll registers, membership rosters, contribution files, AP/AR, tax data, etc.).
  • Design, build, and maintain reusable datasets by integrating data from APIs, firm systems, databases, and external sources.
  • Build repeatable data workflows (sampling, testing, trend analysis, reconciliations) to streamline recurring engagement tasks.
  • Create dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, Excel) that surface key metrics and trends for teams and clients.
  • Run analytics to identify miscoded transactions, outliers, duplicates, and other anomalies for follow-up.
  • Analyze firm operational data (realization, utilization, WIP, billing, collections, staffing, engagement profitability) to support management reporting and resource planning.
  • Extract, clean, and analyze public regulatory datasets (Form 5500, LM-2, Census data) to generate benchmarks and industry insights.
  • Build benchmarking tools and comparative analyses for business development and client conversations.
  • Present findings in user-friendly formats (Excel workbooks, dashboards, executive memos) with clear documentation and version control.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations on data governance, source documentation, and reproducibility.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 (depending on experience)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar role.
  • Advanced Excel (Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas) and strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across service lines.
  • Discretion handling confidential client and firm data; collaborative, service-oriented mindset.
  • Applicants must currently reside within the Washington, DC metropolitan area to be considered.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in or with public accounting, professional services, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite) or audit/tax workflows.
  • Prior work with Form 5500, LM-2, or other regulatory datasets.
  • Exposure to Python, R, Alteryx, or other data-manipulation platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics tools and automation.

Position Type & Work Environment

  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent.
  • Work environment: Professional office with hybrid flexibility. Standard office equipment provided (computers, dual monitors, collaboration tools).
  • Travel: Minimal; occasional local or overnight travel to other offices or client sites may be required.
