Product Data Analyst
The Product Data Analyst role focuses on monitoring and improving map data quality and coverage through building dashboards, KPIs, and analytical reports. This position partners with Product, Engineering, and UX teams to support mapping product analytics across multiple user experiences, driving data-informed decisions and presenting insights to leadership. The role is a hybrid W2 contract based in San Francisco or New York with potential remote options.

What You’ll Do
This Product Data Analyst role will partner with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to turn product and user data into actionable insights that drive roadmap decisions and measure impact.
- Define, track, and maintain core product metrics and KPIs (activation, retention, engagement, conversion, revenue).
- Design and analyze A/B tests and experiments to inform product decisions; communicate results and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Build, maintain, and scale dashboards and self-serve analytics using BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Mode, or similar).
- Write and optimize SQL to extract, transform, and validate data from event/warehouse sources.
- Collaborate on data instrumentation and event taxonomy to improve data quality and observability.
- Translate business questions into analytical approaches (cohort analysis, funnel analysis, segmentation, lifetime value).
- Deliver clear, concise insights and visualizations to non-technical stakeholders; influence product strategy with data-driven recommendations.
- Support ad-hoc analyses and partner on building forecasting, attribution, and reporting frameworks.
What We're Looking For
Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical foundations, product intuition, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
- 2+ years experience in product analytics, data analysis, or related roles (experience in consulting or product teams is a plus).
- Strong SQL skills for querying analytics, event, and transactional datasets.
- Hands-on experience with product analytics and BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Mode, or similar).
- Familiarity with experimentation methodology and statistical testing for A/B tests.
- Proficiency with Python or R for deeper analysis and data manipulation preferred.
- Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and data modeling concepts.
- Excellent communication skills; able to present insights and recommendations to product, engineering, and executive partners.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize analyses that drive business impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in consulting, SaaS, marketplace, or consumer product environments.
- Knowledge of event-driven analytics and instrumentation best practices (e.g., Segment, RudderStack).
- Experience with SQL performance optimization and building scalable ETL/ELT queries.
- Familiarity with metrics tracking frameworks (north star metric, input/output metrics).
- Experience mentoring junior analysts or contributing to analytics enablement.
