Primary Function

Confidential Client is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Analyst I to provide entry-level cybersecurity support for IT systems. This role focuses on monitoring security events, triaging alerts, assisting incident response, supporting vulnerability management, and maintaining security documentation aligned with applicable frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC Level 2). The Analyst will work under supervision and use the Microsoft security stack (Defender, Sentinel, Purview) to help safeguard enterprise systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor SIEM events in Microsoft Sentinel; triage low/medium severities and escalate critical incidents.
  • Review Microsoft Defender EDR alerts; collect evidence, isolate endpoints when directed, and follow runbooks.
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning (e.g., Tenable, Qualys) and track remediation via POA&M updates.
  • Maintain accurate tickets and documentation for incidents, changes, and security controls.
  • Support identity and access management reviews and recertification activities; enforce least‑privilege principles.
  • Execute baseline hardening and configuration checks on endpoints and servers per standards.
  • Contribute evidence for compliance audits (NIST 800‑171; CMMC L2) and continuous monitoring.
  • Participate in phishing simulation analysis and end‑user security awareness initiatives.
  • Draft or improve SOPs, checklists, and runbooks to improve repeatable security operations.

Who You Are / Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 0–2 years hands‑on experience in cybersecurity or IT operations.
  • Baseline certification: CompTIA Security+ required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire; Microsoft SC‑200 preferred.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance (active Secret preferred).
  • Ability to meet DoD 8140/8570 IAT II requirements within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong attention to detail, good written communication for documentation, and ability to follow established playbooks.

Working Environment & Schedule

  • Primarily office‑based at Confidential Client facilities with potential hybrid work consistent with business needs.
  • Occasional after‑hours or on‑call support during incident responses or maintenance windows.
  • Must comply with Confidential Client safety, confidentiality, and acceptable use policies.

Preferences

  • Preference may be given consistent with applicable law and internal policies.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Tenable/Qualys, and compliance frameworks (NIST 800‑171, CMMC L2) is a strong plus.

Notes on Supervision & Advancement

  • This is an entry‑level role reporting to the ISSM or delegated security manager.
  • May provide peer mentoring to interns or new analysts as directed.
  • Opportunities for growth into SOC Analyst II or other security engineering roles for high performers.
