This role supports managed detection and response (MDR) engagements and work across Microsoft’s security ecosystem.

Position Highlights

This is an entry-level Cyber Security Specialist role (0–1 years) ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals. You will support MDR services using Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR), Microsoft Defender XDR, and the employer’s threat exposure tools. The role includes hands-on threat detection, investigation, and security technology deployment to help clients reduce risk.

What You Will Do

• Monitor security events, triage alerts, and escalate incidents when required.
• Investigate alerts, document findings, and support incident response activities.
• Perform proactive threat and exposure hunting using scheduled queries and threat intelligence.
• Assist with planning, configuration, deployment, and optimization of Microsoft security tools.
• Communicate clearly with clients during escalations and regular security program activities.
• Contribute to reusable detection content, playbooks, and operational processes.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (cybersecurity concentration preferred) — relevant certifications, internships, or hands-on lab work also considered.
• Foundational understanding of common attack vectors, threat intelligence, and security tooling.
• 0–1 years of practical experience in threat investigations, incident response, SOC/SecOps, or related projects (internships and academic work count).
• Basic knowledge of cloud, SaaS, networking, and cybersecurity concepts (identity and access management, data security, application operations).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to work independently and in teams.

Certifications & Training

Candidates are expected to attain Microsoft SC-200 certification within 60 days of hire and maintain it annually while employed in this role.

Work Location & Schedule

This position is based in Boys Town, NE with on-site responsibilities; partial remote work may be available after an introductory period. Full-time schedule — day, evening, and weekend shifts may be possible depending on client needs.

Compensation (estimated) & Benefits

• Estimated base pay: $89,077 per year (estimated).
