Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Customer Engagement Manager (field-based, outside sales) to manage an established book of local accounts across the greater Metro Detroit area. This role focuses on relationship-building, account retention, and expanding service adoption (e.g., leasing, maintenance, fleet services). You will be the local face of the business — visiting customers, identifying upsell opportunities, and ensuring service delivery and satisfaction.


Compensation & Earning Potential

  • Base salary: $55,000/year, plus commission.
  • Total on-target earnings (OTE): approximately $70,000/year.
  • First-year realistic take-home (ramp): ~ $60,000 (commission builds as you scale your book).
  • Pay range (posted): $55,000 — $80,000 per year.

Territory & Travel

  • Territory covers roughly an 80-mile radius around Troy, MI (greater Metro Detroit).
  • Travel: local, daily — you are home every night; no overnight travel required.
  • Estimated local travel for customer meetings: approximately 20–30%.
  • Mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Choice of cell phone reimbursement or company-provided phone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attain or exceed assigned sales quotas and profit targets.
  • Maintain regular in-person and virtual contact with customers to meet requirements and drive retention.
  • Develop and execute a territory sales penetration plan to expand wallet share.
  • Segment accounts by growth opportunity, renewal/retention risk, and priority.
  • Present services and solutions to customer buying influencers and build trusted relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and execute upsell/solution opportunities.
  • Facilitate communication between customers and internal departments or approved vendors.
  • Ensure contracted services are delivered and maintain customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled account reviews and monitor voice-of-customer (VOC) feedback.
  • Keep CRM updated with timely, account-specific details and interactions.
  • Proactively anticipate and resolve customer issues; share best practices for efficient fleet/leased-asset use.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Who We're Looking For

This is a people-first, field-based sales role ideal for someone who enjoys meeting customers in person, building long-term relationships, and driving value through consultative selling. Candidates new to transportation or fleet work are welcome — training is provided. The role suits entry-level or early-career sellers who are coachable and motivated to grow.

Qualifications

  • Required: 2+ years providing service to customers.
  • Required: 2+ years selling to customers.

Travel

  • Local, daily travel required for customer meetings (approx. 20–30%). Home every night — no overnight travel.
