Role summary
This listing is for a Cultural Resources Specialist (Entry Level / Hybrid) supporting a Confidential Client in Minneapolis, MN. The role focuses on cultural resources investigations, regulatory coordination, archaeological fieldwork, and technical reporting in support of multidisciplinary environmental and engineering projects.
Your impact – key responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct archaeological field studies, including surveys, National Register evaluations, data recovery investigations, construction monitoring, and field documentation.
- Prepare field site forms, technical memos, and written reports that meet professional and regulatory standards.
- Oversee and coordinate assigned project tasks, schedules, and deliverables to support timely, high-quality project completion.
- Communicate clearly with internal project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies; present findings and recommendations as needed.
- Support permitting and compliance efforts by applying knowledge of federal and state cultural resources regulations (including Section 106 processes).
- Use GIS and other field tools to locate, document, and manage project data.
About the opportunity
- Work arrangement: Hybrid — this position is based in the Confidential Client’s Minneapolis, Minnesota office and may include a mix of office and home-based work.
- Travel: Willingness to travel for short-term, out-of-town field assignments is preferred.
- Physical environment: Fieldwork may occur on rough terrain, steep slopes, dense vegetation, construction sites, or industrial locations. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Work authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Core qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in cultural resources, archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field — or equivalent education and experience.
- Approximately 5 years of experience in cultural resources management (surveys, evaluations, data recovery, monitoring, and report preparation).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Section 106 and state-level cultural resources regulations and compliance processes.
- Experience conducting literature reviews, National Register evaluations, data recovery investigations, and construction monitoring.
- Familiarity using GIS in a field setting.
- Strong writing, editing, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred / differentiating experience
- Experience with a range of project types and sizes across the Midwest or Northern Plains.
- Track record coordinating with regulatory agencies and applying technical judgment on permitting and cultural resources issues.
- Prior field crew leadership or task management experience.
Compensation & benefits
- Anticipated base salary range: $60,000–$75,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
