Position Overview
This is an entry-level, mentor-supported Culinary Management Trainee role for a Confidential Client in the Hospitality & Catering industry. The structured training program is designed to be completed within approximately six months; successful completion leads to placement as a Lead Cook in the Restaurant Foods / Kitchen area. This is a full-time role based in Owings Mills, MD. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Sous Chef in running kitchen operations and supervising staff when the Sous Chef is unavailable
- Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to ensure consistent, high-quality finished products
- Educate customers and team members on products and meal solutions; recommend complementary items across departments
- Provide on-the-job coaching, training, feedback and development to kitchen team members
- Support profitability and quality control efforts to maintain the client’s standards
- Participate in a 6-month, structured training program with mentor support; successful completion places you as a Lead Cook
- Note: candidates may be considered for multiple store locations in the region based on openings
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years’ experience as a prep or line cook
- Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance practices
Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts
- Experience in multi-faceted foodservice environments (restaurant, hotel, country club, conference center, casino, theme park, etc.)
Details & Logistics
- Pay: $21.75 - $22.50 / hour
- Time type: Full time
- Schedule: Morning, afternoon, evening (includes weekends). Shifts may start as early as 6:00 AM.
- Training: Entry-level structured program (~6 months) with mentor/trainer support; promotion to Lead Cook upon successful completion
- Location: Owings Mills, MD — local in-person work required
- Age: Must be 18 years or older
