What You’ll Do

This associate-level role supports customer relations for residential and small commercial accounts across an assigned territory. The position is office-based initially with field visits as needed and is designed for candidates who want to learn technical customer-service work and build a long-term career.

  • Support customers in-office and during occasional field visits; respond to inquiries and resolve service or billing questions.
  • Provide clear billing explanations and basic tariff/rate guidance to help customers understand options and resolve high-bill concerns.
  • Learn distribution electrical system basics and meter technologies to explain service reliability and power quality to customers.
  • Promote energy-efficiency and energy-management programs to residential and business customers; partner with program managers and contractors.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Billing, Operations) to investigate access issues, new service requests, load estimates, and contract support.
  • Document customer interactions, maintain accurate records, and comply with applicable utility commission guidelines.
  • Represent the confidential client professionally at community events, meetings, and customer locations.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum requirements differ by pay grade. Candidates should meet one of the education/experience combinations below for the grade being recruited.

Minimum for Customer Service Account Representative Associate (SG 04)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Engineering, Management, Marketing/Human Relations; or
  • Associate degree plus 3 years customer-contact experience with technical or distribution operations exposure; or
  • High school diploma/GED plus 4 years customer-contact experience with technical/distribution operations exposure.
  • Working knowledge of field activities related to customer services and electrical distribution/construction.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Minimum for Business Services Account Manager Associate (SG 05)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, or Industrial Technology plus 2 years customer service experience in a technical environment; or
  • Associate degree plus 4 years technical customer service experience; or
  • High school diploma/GED plus 6 years technical customer service experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred skills and attributes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional presentation ability.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to coordinate across departments.
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork in varying terrain and weather.

Compensation & Benefits

The confidential client provides competitive pay plus a comprehensive benefits package.

  • SG 04 (Customer Services Account Representative Associate): $54,063 – $67,578 per year.
  • SG 05 (Business Services Account Manager Associate): $63,496 – $79,369 per year.
  • Benefits include (but are not limited to) health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and employee development programs.

Work Setting & Physical Demands

  • Employment type: Full-time (initially office-based; periodic field visits).
  • Physical demand level: Sedentary — primarily sitting with occasional walking/standing; may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Travel: Local travel across assigned territory for customer visits and community events.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
