About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate-level Software Engineer to join the Corporate Planning & Management (CPM) Engineering team in New York, NY. CPM Engineering builds enterprise-grade platforms that power financial planning, expense management, third-party risk, sustainability strategy for operations and supply chain, and decision-support tools used across the firm.

This is a hands-on full-stack engineering role where you will deliver solutions that cross data and platform boundaries and leverage modern AI/GenAI techniques to accelerate development and improve platform capabilities.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Direct business impact — your work will shape how the organization plans, forecasts, and makes strategic decisions.
  • Work on enterprise-wide systems (not one-off apps) that improve transparency, controls, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Cross-functional exposure — partner with finance, procurement, product, and risk stakeholders across a global organization.
  • Use modern cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and applied AI/agentic frameworks.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications across the software lifecycle: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Build responsive front-end experiences and robust back-end services that power financial planning, expense management, and risk platforms.
  • Integrate AI-assisted development practices (code-generation assistants, LLM productivity tools, prompt engineering) into the engineering workflow to improve velocity and quality.
    • Architect and deliver multi-agent AI systems, including orchestrator and subagent topologies.
    • Build and maintain knowledge graphs and RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) systems for document and data retrieval.
    • Establish governance frameworks for AI systems that cover logging, explainability, and auditability.
    • Document and promote agentic software development best practices.
  • Collaborate with sponsors, product owners, and engineers globally to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet complex business requirements.
  • Participate in and lead code reviews focused on quality, maintainability, and engineering best practices.
  • Take technical ownership of features and components, managing multiple stakeholders and driving delivery in a global team.
  • Stay current with AI/ML and software engineering advancements and bring improvements into the platform.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Java (preferred) or another major language such as Python, with willingness to upskill as needed.
  • Full-stack development experience — comfortable building front-end (React, JavaScript/TypeScript) and back-end (Java, Spring, REST APIs) components.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, and software design.
  • Excellent development skills: debugging, testing, and code optimization.
  • Experience using AI tools to assist software development (AI-assisted coding, LLM-based tools, automated code review).
  • Foundational knowledge of AI and agentic systems: LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native solutions (AWS).
  • Ability to manage technical ownership and work effectively with global, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with distributed databases, Elasticsearch, or large-scale indexing.
  • Familiarity with open-source messaging and streaming systems (Kafka).
  • Strong UNIX/Linux systems experience (performance tuning and distributed-system debugging).
  • API design experience, message buses, or real-time processing systems.
  • Practical exposure to GenAI techniques: RAG pipelines, model fine-tuning, LangChain/AutoGen-style frameworks, vector DBs.
  • MLOps exposure: CI/CD for ML, model deployment and monitoring.
  • Domain knowledge of financial planning, expense management, or enterprise risk systems.

We Offer

  • Opportunity to build high-impact platforms used across the enterprise.
  • Exposure to modern cloud-native and AI-first engineering practices.
  • Collaborative team environment with strong learning and growth opportunities.
  • Work on complex, meaningful problems with visible business impact.
