What You’ll Do
Under close supervision, perform a full range of clerical duties in support of court operations for the confidential client. You will learn court procedures and assist staff, attorneys, outside agencies, and the public. Typical duties include:
- Reviewing, filing, conforming, and processing court documents
- Preparing court calendars and processing case dispositions
- Organizing, maintaining, purging, and archiving case files and records
- Maintaining accurate case statistics and supporting reporting requirements
- Assisting members of the public with filing procedures and explaining routine policies (not legal advice)
- Accepting fines and routine filing fees, computing fees, issuing receipts, and balancing cash drawers
- Providing backup and assistance across departments (e.g., traffic, family law, criminal, civil, probate)
- Performing other related clerical duties as assigned
Compensation & Schedule
- Salary range: $48,120 – $58,368 per year (posted by the confidential client)

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; AND one year of full-time general clerical or office assistant experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate may substitute for the above education/experience requirement.
- Basic keyboarding and typing skills; ability to produce timely, accurate correspondence and reports.
- Familiarity with word processing and basic database/report formats (experience with case management software is a plus).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, attorneys, judicial officers, and coworkers.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Limited knowledge of legal system terminology, court procedures, and basic office practices.
- Records management skills, including filing and organizing case files.
- Basic business arithmetic and daily accounting skills for routine fee processing.
- Clear written and verbal communication and correct English usage (grammar, spelling, punctuation).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force; frequently up to 10 pounds (e.g., moving files, carrying items).
- May arrange records in file cabinets, drawers, and boxes; walk and stand while retrieving and organizing files.
- Typical indoor office/courtroom environment.
Other Requirements
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License at the time of appointment (this requirement will be reviewed on a position basis in accordance with ADA regulations).
- Criminal history and background check required: candidates must pass fingerprint clearance by the FBI and DOJ.
- This position is entry-level/training (Courtroom Legal Process Clerk I); incumbents are expected to train to proficiency in multiple processing areas.
