What You’ll Do

Confidential Client seeks a Court Coordinator I to support the Domestic Violence Division in Chicago. You will work closely with judges, the Division Administrator, and the Presiding Judge’s office to keep courtroom operations running smoothly.

  • Answer telephones and direct litigant questions to the appropriate department
  • Provide courtroom support to assigned judges, including temporary reassignment to other courtrooms as needed
  • Summarize cases on the court call and identify multi-party or complex matters
  • Schedule hearings and collect attorney and pro se contact information
  • Prepare and process clerical work associated with court orders and orders of protection
  • Distribute weekly assignment sheets and act as a liaison with the Law Bulletin
  • Assist the Division Administrator and Presiding Judge’s Office with assigned projects
  • Maintain office supplies and participate in after-hours coverage rotation when required
  • Respond to inquiries from Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, and State’s Attorney

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will combine strong administrative skills with courtroom knowledge and professionalism.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Domestic Violence Division or courtroom experience preferred
  • Knowledge of case flow, court forms, and procedures
  • Excellent computer skills (case management systems, MS Office)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with legal and non-legal personnel
  • High integrity, discretion, and commitment to Access to Justice for all
  • Ability to follow court-required procedures and follow-through on assignments

Compensation & union:

  • Entry-level salary: $66,665 per year (as posted)
  • Union: Teamsters Local 700

Working Conditions & Requirements

  • Continuous desk/keyboard work and regular telephone use
  • Occasional reaching, simple grasping/fine manipulation
  • Ability to lift files up to 20 pounds
  • This position may require after-hours coverage on a rotation
  • Pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check required

  • All offers contingent upon successful completion of required screening
