Counselor I — Key Responsibilities

Confidential Client seeks a compassionate Counselor I to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care for patients in a behavioral health setting. This full-time role focuses on addiction and recovery services and requires hands-on clinical work, coordination with a multidisciplinary team, and accurate documentation.

• Plan and lead group therapy sessions and perform patient intake assessments in line with clinical guidelines and site needs
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as required
• Assist with individualized treatment planning and review progress toward treatment goals
• Coordinate patient care with onsite clinicians, case managers, and other multidisciplinary team members
• Attend required staff and multidisciplinary meetings
• Timely, accurate documentation of treatment data in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Maintain regulatory and company compliance in all clinical activities

Qualifications

• Required: 1+ year of relevant experience (clinical, counseling, case management, or similar)
• Preferred: 2+ years of experience in addiction treatment or behavioral health
• Education: Must meet state-level regulatory requirements for the role; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly empathetic, patient-focused approach to support recovery journeys
• Team player: able to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Adaptable and able to work in a dynamic clinic setting
• Comfortable using technology for documentation and communication (familiarity with MS Office, Outlook, Teams; EHR experience preferred)
• Prior experience with harm reduction is a plus
• Commitment to ethical practice and adherence to compliance standards

Licenses & Certifications

• REQUIRED: Active entry-level clinical certification or licensure consistent with state-level regulatory requirements (example: TCADC or equivalent). Candidate must hold credentials that permit practice in the state where assigned (Kentucky).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: USD $45,000 — $55,000 per year
