Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Correctional Training Officer to join their Employee Development team in Oklahoma City, OK. This on-site role leads and delivers training programs, develops curriculum and lesson plans, evaluates training needs, and supports professional development across correctional operations.


What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is looking for a training professional to design and deliver correctional training programs. Core responsibilities include:

  • Conduct job analyses and assessments to identify employee training needs
  • Develop curriculum, lesson plans, participant manuals, and supporting media (videos, graphics)
  • Deliver classroom training, workshops, and seminars (pre-service and in‑service)
  • Evaluate participant performance and prepare training reports; maintain training records
  • Schedule and coordinate training sessions and training locations
  • Provide supervision and guidance to other training officers when assigned
  • Coordinate department/division training or organizational development initiatives
  • Manage contracts with external service providers when required

Level expectations

Level I — Entry-level assignment at a facility or district. Perform routine professional training tasks, assist in program development, conduct training using existing materials, and maintain records.

Level II — Career-level assignment with full responsibility for developing and conducting training programs across a facility, unit, district, or at an academy/division level under general guidance. Prepare lesson plans, lead classes/workshops, evaluate outcomes, and produce program reports.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications vary by level:

  • Level I
    • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • May substitute one year of correctional/security work, training, adult education, or HR development for each year of required education.
  • Level II
    • Bachelor’s degree plus one year of qualifying experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Alternatively, a master’s degree in adult education or human resource development is acceptable.

Required skills and abilities (both levels):

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and employee training methods
  • Familiarity with correctional security policies and procedures
  • Ability to prepare effective lesson plans and training materials
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • For Level II: proven ability to plan and conduct employee training programs independently

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in a correctional or law enforcement environment
  • Experience as a subject matter instructor or training specialist in firearms, CPR, First Aid, defensive tactics, or related areas

Special Requirements

  • Some positions may require a minimum of 80 hours of training as a certified subject matter instructor in areas such as firearms, CPR, First Aid, or self-defense
  • Must be willing and able to travel as necessary
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and while assigned to this job classification
  • This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work

Compensation & Schedule

  • Level I: $42,445.52 per year (this salary is non-negotiable)
  • Level II: $46,664.80 per year (this salary is non-negotiable)
  • Employment type: Full-time (on-site)
