Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Coordinator — Commercial Trade to join the Sales, Marketing & Transportation team in Brookwood, AL. This role supports international commercial sales by assisting with trade finance activities, export documentation, customer payment processes, and banking coordination. This position is suited for recent college graduates or interns with strong attention to detail, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to work across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Letters of Credit (LCs) against commercial contract terms and coordinate LC amendments with customers and banks.
  • Monitor LC issuance timing, expiration dates, drawing limits, presentation deadlines, and amendment activity.
  • Maintain and update the Letter of Credit tracking system.
  • Coordinate preparation, review, and distribution of export documentation packages (BOL, COA, COW, COO, Commercial Invoice, SOF, stowage plans, and customer-specific documents).
  • Present trade documents to advising/confirming banks and track document status through the banking process.
  • Identify and help resolve documentation discrepancies to avoid payment delays; escalate as appropriate.
  • Maintain a rolling forecast of expected customer collections and monitor collection performance, aging, and overdue payments.
  • Serve as a primary commercial contact for banking partners and customers on documentation and payment matters.
  • Track demurrage (payable and receivable) and support reconciliation of Statements of Facts and laytime calculations.
  • Prepare weekly reports on open LCs, pending document presentations, expected cash collections, documentation exceptions, and commercial escalations.
  • Support process improvements, digital trade initiatives (electronic documentation, digital LCs), trade compliance screening, trade credit insurance renewals, and audit requests as the role develops.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, International Business, Economics, or related field preferred. Recent graduates encouraged to apply. Relevant internships, coursework, or project experience may substitute for direct experience.
  • Experience: Entry-level (0–2 years) preferred. Internship or project experience in finance, accounting, logistics, supply chain, commercial administration, or reporting is helpful. Exposure to contracts, invoices, shipping documents, or Excel-based tracking tools is desirable. Prior LC/export documentation experience is a plus but not required.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams; ability to learn tracking tools and reporting dashboards.
  • Knowledge & abilities: Strong analytical and organizational skills; exceptional attention to detail; effective communicator; relationship-oriented with customers, banks, and internal teams; ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment; commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based work; ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support commercial meetings or banking partner interactions.
  • Regular interaction across Commercial, Export Operations, Accounting, Quality, Logistics, and external banking and customer representatives.
