What You’ll Do
The Controls & Tuning Support Engineer 1 is an entry-level role within a structured 2-year training program aimed at developing future Commissioning Tuning Engineers. You will complete classroom, lab, and on-the-job training while assisting senior engineers during field tuning and commissioning activities.
- Be available to travel up to 50% by land and/or air for training and field assignments, including overnight and extended site stays.
- Complete the Turbine Controls & Tuning Engineering training program (classroom, lab exercises, and field exposure).
- Build a foundational understanding of gas turbine operations and controls architecture.
- Assist with basic logic and HMI/graphics updates under supervision.
- Participate in lab sessions for field wiring, signal tracing, and basic calibration.
- Support combustion tuning activities and observe system behavior during tuning events.
- Help set up and remove temporary monitoring/diagnostic equipment (e.g., CABS, CASS, SMCT).
- Observe and assist in routine troubleshooting to develop diagnostic skills.
- Document training activities, findings, and observations; practice report-writing skills.
- Work collaboratively with mentors and take direction from experienced engineers.

- Comply with safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
- Participate in team initiatives to meet departmental goals and contribute to positive team culture.
- Safeguard confidential information and maintain high integrity.
- Perform additional duties as required to support field and training operations.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR at least two (2) years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language: Ability to read and interpret technical materials and write reports. Japanese or Spanish fluency is an asset.
- Reasoning: Ability to interpret technical diagrams and solve problems with both abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer: Familiarity with project management tools, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and basic technical diagramming.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require employer immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
- On-site requirement: This role is site-based and involves field assignments (#LI-ONSITE).
Physical & Safety Requirements
Work frequently requires standing, walking, bending, talking, and hearing. Regular lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. May be exposed to loud environments and occasional contact with chemicals. Must adhere to client and customer safety protocols, including use of PPE (hardhat, safety glasses, hearing and fall protection). Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

- Estimated annual pay (from source posting): $82,561 per year (estimated).
