Compensation & Schedule
Confidential Client is seeking a full-time Controls Engineer.
- Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 annually, DOE.
- Schedule: 2nd or 3rd shift.
- Location: Plainfield, IN.
- Valid driver’s license required.
What You’ll Do
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of automated manufacturing and warehouse equipment.
- Assist with PLC programming, modifications, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Gain hands-on experience with Confidential Client PLCs and control systems.
- Support HMI development and troubleshooting using common HMI platforms.
- Assist with equipment commissioning, startup, testing, and controls integration.
- Work alongside experienced Controls Engineers and maintenance personnel to diagnose and resolve automation issues.
- Support improvements to equipment reliability, production efficiency, and system performance.
- Assist with PLC, HMI, electrical, and controls documentation.
- Support automated conveyor, packaging, material-handling, and manufacturing systems.
- Participate in controls and automation projects involving new equipment and system upgrades.
- Learn and apply standardized PLC programming and controls practices.
- Build knowledge of VFDs, motion control, industrial networking, and machine safety systems.
- Stay current with new automation technologies and continue developing technical skills.
- Take on increasing responsibility as technical knowledge and experience grow.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field — or equivalent education and experience.
- Early-career experience in controls, automation, electrical or manufacturing engineering, or related technical roles.
- Internship, co-op, apprenticeship, school project, or hands-on manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of PLCs, electrical controls, automation, or industrial equipment.
- Strong desire to develop a long-term career in Controls Engineering and Industrial Automation.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Foundational knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems.
- Exposure to Confidential Client PLCs and automation platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with Studio 5000, RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, RSView, or similar toolsets is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and programming systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to take on new challenges.

- Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for guidance.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Internship, co-op, or project experience involving PLCs, automation, robotics, electrical controls, or manufacturing systems.
- Experience with Confidential Client automation products and training/certifications.
- Experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing or packaging equipment.
- Exposure to conveyors, material handling, or automated warehouse systems.
- Familiarity with VFDs, motion control, industrial networks, or machine safety systems.
