Role overview

We are supporting a Confidential Client in hiring a Controls Engineer II / Electrical Engineer II based in Parker, TX. This early-career engineering role focuses on the design, development, testing, and integration of control and electrical systems for full-motion ground station antennas and optical telescopes. The position requires U.S. citizenship due to government contract and security-clearance requirements.


What you’ll do

This role will give you hands-on exposure to motion-control systems, embedded software, and precision electromechanical systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in electrical requirements, functional, and performance analysis for components and systems.
  • Design and develop electrical and control systems — schematics, layouts, and component selection — for antenna and telescope systems.
  • Design, integrate, and test analog/digital electronics, wiring harnesses, and connectorization for servo and RF subsystems.
  • Develop, tune, and troubleshoot PID control loops and embedded C applications for motion control.
  • Support documentation and architecture development for CAN bus or similar communication protocols.
  • Integrate and test brushless DC motors, servo drives, encoders, and related motion-control components.
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, testing, data analysis, and root-cause troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate across disciplines (electrical, controls, mechanical, software, production, test) throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation: schematics, specs, test procedures, and reports.
  • Support projects from concept through prototype, verification, production release, and field installation.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support field installations (estimated 30–40%).

Required qualifications

U.S. citizenship is required for consideration.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles and processes.
  • Foundational understanding of control systems, electrical circuits, electronics, or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with C or embedded C programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team and following direction from senior engineers.
  • Willingness to travel for field installations (30–40%).

Preferred qualifications

  • Hands-on project experience (academic projects, internships, robotics, labs) involving motors, controls, embedded systems, electronics, or automation.
  • Experience with engineering software, simulation tools, or laboratory test equipment.
  • Exposure to brushless DC motors, servo drives, PID control, motion control, or antenna tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with CAN bus, CANopen, or similar protocols.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (a plus).

Location & logistics

  • Work location: Parker, TX (on-site / field work as required).
  • This position requires eligibility for U.S. government contracts and/or security clearances — only U.S. citizens will be considered.
  • Significant domestic and international travel (~30–40%) is required for field support and installations.
