Position overview
This is an entry-level Contracts Administrator role supporting a Confidential Client at their Dahlgren, VA facility (on-site). The Contracts Administrator I will be a hands-on member of a small contracts team performing cradle-to-grave contract administration work across government and commercial contracts. This role blends contract administration with basic accounting and financial tracking.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare proposals, bids, and contractual documents; review terms & conditions for compliance with contract requirements (including FAR where applicable)
- Execute contract actions and maintain accurate contract records
- Generate monthly technical and financial reports and ad hoc reports as requested
- Budget and forecast project funding, track tasking and labor to meet contract deliverables
- Interface with technical leads and program managers to support contract execution
- Prepare accurate invoices per contract-specific instructions
- Perform basic accounting functions (accounts payable/receivable support, budget tracking) and identify/solve business-math problems
- Support multiple contracts and managers; prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years experience in contracting or contract-related finance roles preferred. DoD contracting experience and working knowledge of the FAR is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
- Relevant backgrounds include: project analyst, project control, budget/financial analyst, purchaser/buyer, contracts specialist/administrator, acquisition analyst
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and ability to apply learning across varied contract types
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating across technical and business teams
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Logistics & Compensation
- Location: Dahlgren, VA (on-site). Job listing cites King George / Dahlgren area — this is not a remote billet.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 08:00–16:00.
- Telework: Eligible after 6 months with supervisor approval.
- Relocation: Not available for this position.
- Travel: None required.
- Security clearance: Not required.
- Estimated pay: $93,346 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will be commensurate with the position requirements.
