Your role

Confidential Client’s Tax Operations and Innovation team is hiring a part-time Contractor to support tax technology projects in the Grand Rapids, MI area. You will work with tax subject-matter experts to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain low- to no-code solutions, templates, and tools that improve tax workflows across multiple industries.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of a tax technology strategy/roadmap to automate, streamline, and standardize tax operations
  • Assist in building low-code/no-code solutions and automations for tax teams
  • Collaborate directly with Tax Subject Matter Experts to design and deliver tools and templates used by engagement teams
  • Help analyze vendor technology and provide recommendations to support investment decisions
  • Support strategic research on emerging tax technologies and integration approaches
  • Learn the firm’s technology stack and tax processes to recommend improvements

Responsibilities (examples)

  • Work across teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and run deployments
  • Configure and maintain templates, workflows, and documentation for engagement teams
  • Support testing and training efforts for new tools and automations
  • Document processes, technical designs, and vendor evaluations
  • Provide operational support during periods of deployment and adoption

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or a Master’s in Accounting/Tax
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • On track to meet education/credit requirements to sit for the CPA exam and obtain CPA licensure in the state where you will work
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills preferred
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, APIs, and SQL is a plus
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Work hours, compensation & travel

  • Employment type: Part-time, non-exempt
  • Pay: $33.00 per hour (as shown in the original posting)
  • This role may require overtime, local travel, occasional overnight travel, and rare international travel
  • May require hours beyond a standard 40-hour work week during peak periods

Physical & environmental requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary sitting position for at least 75% of the time
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 lbs for occasional equipment moves
  • Ability to bend, lift, climb, and position equipment when necessary
  • Frequent verbal communication with clients and team members; ability to exchange information clearly
  • Ability to work in high-stress and deadline-driven environments
