Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Consulting Utility Forester to support utility vegetation management and natural resource consulting efforts in Washington, DC. This hands-on field role focuses on rights-of-way inspections, vegetation assessments, GIS data collection, and collaboration with crews and planners to maintain safe, reliable utility infrastructure while protecting natural resources.


What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking motivated vegetation-management professionals to:

  • Conduct vegetation inspections and assessments along utility rights-of-way
  • Identify tree and brush management needs and recommend treatment plans
  • Collect and document field data using GIS mapping and mobile technology
  • Evaluate terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions in project areas
  • Collaborate with planners, project managers, and field crews to implement vegetation solutions
  • Help utilities maintain compliance, reliability, and public safety

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for working outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret GIS maps and spatial data
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable using mobile technology
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle and travel within the service area
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn local tree species identification and growth patterns

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Utility vegetation management or right-of-way experience
  • ISA Certified Arborist® or related certifications
  • Leadership experience and a desire for career advancement

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $20 - $24 per hour (based on qualifications and experience)
  • Company vehicle for commuting purposes and a cell phone (role dependent)
