What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Finance Technology Summer Scholar to join their Government & Public Services practice in Sacramento, CA. This hands-on consulting role gives you exposure to public-sector clients, accounting and reporting modernization efforts, and the integration of technology and data analytics into financial operations.

  • Work as an integral member of a client service team supporting transformation initiatives and improving organizational performance.
  • Help stakeholders modernize accounting and reporting capabilities, improve internal controls, and ensure accurate financial information to support decision-making.
  • Assist with implementing and configuring finance and accounting systems, automation tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Use data analytics and process improvement techniques to increase efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document requirements, test solutions, and help deploy technology-enabled improvements.
  • Communicate findings, provide recommendations, and contribute to client deliverables.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and expected to graduate by Summer 2028 pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Finance Technology, Information Systems, Technology Management, or an equivalent program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Reside within a commutable distance (e.g., ~100-mile radius) of the assigned Sacramento, CA office with ability to commute daily if required
  • Ability to travel up to 50% on average, depending on client needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
  • Minimum age: 18 at time of employment

Preferred:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Internship, project, or coursework experience in business analytics, computer science, finance technology, information systems, or technology management
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis, accounting systems, or financial reporting tools

The Team

Confidential Client’s Government & Public Services practice serves government agencies, higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other public-sector entities. Teams work across strategy, operations, technology, and transformation to improve mission outcomes and organizational performance. As a Summer Scholar, you’ll gain mentoring, exposure to client engagements, and opportunities to develop specialized skills in finance technology and public-sector consulting.


Compensation & Logistics

  • Estimated compensation: $38.00 per hour (reasonable estimate provided by the source). This role is a summer placement; final pay and offer details will be determined by the hiring organization based on experience and other factors.
  • Location: Sacramento, CA — candidates must be within a commutable distance of the assigned office.
  • Travel: up to ~50% depending on client needs.
  • Work authorization: must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Employment type: full-time summer scholar placement (temporary/summer engagement).
