What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineering Analyst to join an AI-native engineering practice in Costa Mesa, CA. You’ll work on cloud-native, full‑stack software projects, using modern engineering practices (DevOps, CI/CD, TDD) and AI tools as a routine part of the development workflow. This role offers ongoing mentorship, hands-on learning, and the chance to rotate across technologies and client engagements.
- Collaborate on agile scrum teams to design, build, test, and deploy scalable software.
- Build cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud using microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Use AI development tools daily for implementation, debugging, refactoring, test generation, and code review — applying engineering judgment to prompt, steer, and validate AI-generated code.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code to automate delivery.
- Apply test‑driven development (TDD) and integrate security best practices across the software lifecycle.
- Use collaboration and version-control tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub) to deliver work in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuously learn new frameworks and technologies; be adaptable to hybrid on-site/client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver production-ready features as part of cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions with an eye toward scalability and reliability.
- Validate AI-generated code and other automation outputs before they reach production.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Support client engagements, which may require travel and on-site collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited college/university (expected graduation by Spring/Summer 2027) or a completed bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Analytics, MIS, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in core Computer Science subjects (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, software engineering).
- Programming ability in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, C#, or Python; familiarity with object-oriented design.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code or comparable) as a core part of daily engineering work — experience prompting, steering, and validating AI-generated code.
- Ability to travel up to 50% on average, depending on client needs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment.
- Must reside within a commutable distance of the assigned Costa Mesa office and be able to commute daily if required.
This is an entry-level opportunity intended for candidates beginning or building a career in software engineering. Applicants with a variety of educational and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply if they meet the qualifications.
Note on compensation: the original posting provides estimated compensation information. Estimated: $143,811 per year (displayed). A reasonable estimate in the source text was $100,000. Compensation will vary based on experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
The Team
You will join a technology consulting team that embeds engineering and product delivery into client programs. Teams balance technical delivery with client-facing consulting, focusing on delivering measurable outcomes and developing team members through mentorship and varied client work.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with microservices design patterns and cloud-native observability.
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and container tooling (Docker).
- Practical exposure to CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Prior internship or project experience building production software.
Additional Notes & Candidate Requirements
- This role is full-time and may involve hybrid or client-site work.
- Use of AI tools in the development workflow is expected; strong judgment in evaluating AI outputs is essential.
- No employer sponsorship for work authorization will be provided.
- The position requires the ability to travel and to commute to the assigned Costa Mesa office as needed.
