What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry- to mid-level consultant to support human health risk assessment and community health projects. This role is hybrid (office presence required at least two days per week) and based in Oakland, CA.
- Support human health risk assessment projects for contaminated sites, Brownfields, vapor intrusion, ambient/indoor air quality, product safety, regulatory interactions, community engagement, and litigation.
- Compile, organize, and manage environmental data and relational databases.
- Perform statistical and geospatial analyses of environmental and health data.
- Evaluate environmental fate and transport of chemicals and estimate human exposures across media (air, soil, sediment, water, produce, fish tissue, etc.).
- Calculate exposure-related health risks and support risk-management planning.
- Assist with technical reporting, proposals, presentations, and clear written communication to clients and regulators.
- Review scientific literature, regulations, and technical guidance relevant to projects.
Qualifications
About you — required
- Advanced degree (M.S., MPH or equivalent) in Environmental Science or Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Environmental Toxicology, or related field. Exemplary candidates with a bachelor’s degree plus 2+ years relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 2 years of college-level chemistry coursework.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, critical thinking, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- Current authorization to work in the United States full time; Confidential Client is not able to sponsor applicants for this position.
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of risk assessment, exposure assessment, and fate & transport modeling.
- Experience with statistical/data analysis in R, Python, SQL, or SAS.
- Experience using relational databases (MS Access, SQL) for environmental data management.
- GIS capability is a plus.
- Experience reviewing technical documents, scientific articles, and regulatory guidance.
Additional Information
- Employment type: Full-time; hybrid schedule with at least two days/week in the Oakland office.
- Salary range: $79,040–$98,800 per year (range reflects expected pay at posting; actual pay may vary with location, experience, and qualifications).
