What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a full-time Construction Project Engineer to join their commercial healthcare-construction team in Des Moines, IA. This is an entry-level, post-graduate role within a structured 3–4 year Project Engineer Training Program designed to develop future project managers, superintendents, preconstruction leads, or business development professionals.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assist superintendents and project managers on field operations for commercial healthcare projects
  • Support scheduling and tracking project progress
  • Prepare and process change orders and submittals
  • Draft, review, and respond to RFIs
  • Monitor on-site safety and quality control
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trade partners
  • Lead and document project meetings and site coordination

Who You Are / Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Illinois (travel up to 6–8 hours from home as needed)

Preferred:

  • 2–3 years of industry-related experience (preferred, not required)
  • Familiarity with construction documentation (submittals, RFIs, change orders)
  • Interest in career progression toward project management or construction leadership

Training & Career Path

  • Enroll in a structured Project Engineer Training Program (24 learning modules over ~3–4 years) covering all aspects of commercial construction management
  • Hands-on field experience paired with cross-department mentorship
  • Clear pathway to roles such as Project Manager, Preconstruction Manager, Superintendent, or Business Development

Location & Travel
