Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to join their team in Columbus, AR. This role supports project delivery from planning through closeout, coordinating the field, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and to specification. This is a full‑time, onsite position in Columbus, AR.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project coordination and execution in the field and office
- Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules and coordinating work among subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews
- Participate in constructability reviews and site logistics planning to identify and mitigate challenges early
- Serve as a communication link between field personnel, designers, owners, and internal teams
- Track project progress, documentation, and coordination items using project management software and project controls
- Review on-site work for alignment with drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for completeness and compliance
- Support layout verification and help resolve design or installation conflicts in the field
- Participate in safety meetings, pre-installation reviews, and jobsite audits to promote a safe work environment
- Track inspections, testing, and quality documentation to maintain proper records
- Assist with documenting and tracking scope changes and related cost impacts
- Maintain accurate project records (RFIs, submittals, drawings, logs, field reports)
- Support purchase order and change-documentation processing for subcontractors and suppliers
- Participate in monthly project reviews and audits to monitor performance and risk
- Build and maintain professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects on track
- Contribute to a jobsite culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Construction experience with a general contractor (internship or full‑time experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience working with construction documents including RFIs, submittals, and field reports
- Understanding of commercial construction sequencing and field operations
- Comfortable using project management software and digital tools to track schedules and documentation
- Exposure to commercial construction projects and familiarity with standard industry practices
- Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
Pay & Benefits
- Base salary range: $70,000 - $95,000 per year (final offer depends on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors)
