Confidential Client is hiring for either a Construction Manager or an Associate Civil Engineer to join the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) team within the Transportation & Engineering division. These full-time, field-forward roles support roadway, bridge, stormwater drainage, and traffic operations projects across unincorporated Golden, CO. Both roles emphasize construction management, inspection, coordination with contractors and agencies, and strong public-facing communication.

    • Associate Civil Engineer — Full range: $75,761.10 — $121,217.77; Target hiring range: $75,761.10 — $98,489.43

What You’ll Do (Essential Responsibilities)

  • Serve as construction manager and/or project engineer providing construction oversight in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
  • Inspect construction work, document observations (daily diaries, photos), and prepare inspection reports.
  • Measure quantities, prepare monthly progress payments, and assist with contractor pay applications.
  • Review contractor schedules (CPM), evaluate monthly schedule updates, and track time counts.
  • Draft project direction, correspondence, and change order recommendations to contractors.
  • Review project plans and specifications for constructability and maintenance concerns.
  • Coordinate with contractors, surveyors, utility companies, Right-of-Way agents, and other agency personnel.
  • Assess and inspect erosion control devices and stormwater management for regulatory compliance.
  • Review construction site traffic control plans and Methods of Handling Traffic (MHTs) to protect workers and road users.
  • Respond to citizen questions and concerns and represent the client at project meetings, boards, or commissions.
  • Perform entry-level engineering analysis and calculations (Associate Civil Engineer track).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Construction Manager

  • Experience: ~3 years roadway construction management experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Licenses/Certs: Erosion Control Supervisor (ECS) and Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certifications preferred.

Associate Civil Engineer

  • Experience: ~2 years in civil engineering, roadway construction, or related field.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Licenses/Certs: Engineer-In-Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) required at time of hire. ECS and TCS preferred.

Preferred skills and tools (both tracks)

  • Experience with construction plan review and public-sector projects.
  • Proficiency with Cartograph, Adobe Acrobat Pro / Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word).
  • Strong written and oral communication; ability to run meetings and present to boards/commissions.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and CDOT standards.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, initiative, and resilience.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • In-person position with substantial field duties (>70%).
  • Must be able to travel to multiple job sites across unincorporated Golden, CO.
  • Must be able to walk over uneven terrain in varying weather and compare field conditions with construction plans.
  • Typical 8-hour workday, Monday–Friday; occasional evening or meeting attendance as required.
