What You’ll Do

This entry-level Construction Field Engineer role supports site-level construction engineering, materials testing, and field documentation. Typical day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Participate in engineering investigations and planning by completing well-defined tasks (data collection, routine calculations, feasibility checks).
• Observe construction activities to verify substantial compliance with contract plans and specifications and report deficiencies to senior field staff.
• Sample and test construction materials (soil density, concrete, asphalt) and document results.
• Verify formwork, rebar placement, concrete mixtures, pile driving blow counts, drainage structures, subgrade, and base construction.
• Prepare daily inspection diaries, weather logs, and materials/test documentation.
• Perform basic field quantity calculations and assist with record keeping.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the field supervisor.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented early-career engineer who can work safely on site and communicate clearly with project teams.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience: Entry-level — minimal prior experience required for those with a Bachelor’s; a Master's degree may substitute for experience.
• Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret contract plans and specifications.
  • Comfortable performing basic math and field calculations.
  • Strong note-taking and written communication for inspection reports.
  • Physically able to perform manual tasks and lift up to 60 lbs.
• Certifications: No professional registration required at hire; candidate should actively pursue certifications in nuclear density testing and aggregate, concrete, and asphalt testing as required by contracts.
• Work type: Full-time, field-based (site visits across project locations).
