Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Construction Engineer in Raleigh, NC to support field operations on heavy civil and site development projects. This is an early-career, hands-on role working with project teams across the full project lifecycle. You will assist with project coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, documentation, and on-site construction activities while developing technical and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist the project team with daily construction operations and on-site coordination
- Track labor, equipment, production, and quantities to monitor project performance
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports using Microsoft Excel and project-management tools
- Support project scheduling by updating and maintaining construction schedules
- Coordinate material orders, purchase requests, shop drawings, and submittals
- Help monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and construction progress
- Maintain project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and daily reports
- Assist with payment applications for owners, subcontractors, and vendors
- Verify field quantities and help ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications
- Participate in site walks and evaluate existing field conditions
- Communicate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel to keep projects moving efficiently
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Internship or entry-level experience in heavy civil, highway, or site development construction is a plus
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in both an office and active construction site environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with scheduling and construction-management software preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel to project sites as needed

- Estimated salary: $62,302 per year (estimated)
- Location: Raleigh, NC — on-site with travel to project sites as needed
