What You’ll Do
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking a motivated Computer Programmer II to provide hands-on support for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and in-house applications. This is an entry-level, full-time role responsible for application support, routine development maintenance, reporting, and assisting with small-scale application development under supervision.
- Provide first-line application support: respond to calls, emails, and user requests.
- Maintain and follow a development checklist and documented procedures.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application issues; escalate as needed.
- Administer user accounts: create, update, and deactivate application access.
- Create and deliver customized reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain, optimize, and perform routine maintenance on existing programs.
- Assist with custom application development and user-acceptance testing under supervision.
- Produce and update standard operating procedures and conduct end-user training.
- Collaborate with IT team members and interact with customers to deliver excellent service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum: 1 year of related experience in application support or programming.
- Strong knowledge of database development (preferably Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL). Knowledge of SQL Server is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, Active Server Pages (ASP) or similar web application frameworks, and C#.
- Comfortable operating in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory domain environment.
- Required certification (one of): Security+ CE, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), SSCP, or CCNA-Security (per DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technician Level II).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle DB.
- Familiarity with Windows Server (2008 / 2008 R2 / 2012 R2).
- Basic Cisco networking skills and VMWare vSphere administration experience.
- Additional certifications: CASP, CISSP, MCSE, MCSA, MCP, or Logical Operations CyberSafe First Responder.
